RhinoBond: The Answer for Metal Roof Problems

Rusty Metal RoofMetal roofs add to the aesthetics of the structure and help it to blend into the local environment. But they can also be a nightmare.

Over time, weather, UV exposure, acid rain and building expansion and contraction can leave them rusting, leaking and falling apart.

Caulking joints and coating the roof may not be the best long-term solution, and installing a new metal roof is very expensive. That’s why many building owners opt for a long lasting single-ply system.

RhinoBond for Metal Retrofit RoofsHistorically, single-ply systems were difficult to install in these applications, requiring specific membrane orientation and special width materials. But RhinoBond has changed all that; now installing a thermoplastic roofing system in metal retrofit applications is easier than ever.

Check out the RhinoBond metal retrofit installation video below or request a demonstration. And don't forget to get our new RhinoBond Metal Retro Brochure.

Use QuadFlash for Flashing Rooftop Pipe Penetrations

QuadFlashTired of call-backs from pitch pockets that just don’t perform? Try the new QuadFlash multi-pipe boot as a fast and efficient option for sealing clusters of rooftop pipes.

Unlike pitch pockets that can crack and fail as penetrations expand and contract, the QuadFlash boot provides a permanent and watertight flashing solution that accommodates building and pipe movement.

The QuadFlash boot holds up to four pipes ranging in size from 3/8- to 2-inches in diameter, and is primarily designed for new construction applications. However it can also be used in retrofit situations particularly when new rooftop equipment is being installed.

The one-piece aluminum base has a 6-inch tall, 8-inch wide stack and a 14-inch diameter flange for easy flashing on all commercial roofing systems. Dual Lok & Grip beads around the top of the stack seal the heavy duty EPDM cap securely in place. Molded rubber caps resist weathering, ozone, UV and accommodate pipe movement even in extreme temperatures. Available in black and white.

Contact your local roofing distributor or click QuadFlash for additional information.

Use PipeGuard Rather than Wood Blocks

Wood Block Think that wood blocks are a better option than PipeGuard pipe supports? Think again!

Installing PipeGuard saves time and labor.

Consider the time at fully burdened labor rates that it takes your crew to make and install wood block pipe supports. The steps include cutting the lumber, cutting the slip sheet, attaching the pipe clamps and then installing them on the roof.

PipeGuardBy comparison, there’s nothing to assemble with PipeGuard and it takes only a few seconds to install each one on the roof, saving you hours of time.

In addition, unlike wood supports, PipeGuard is designed to resist rain, freezing temperatures and destructive UV rays. As such, they allow pipes to expand and contract with temperature changes, and will not rot, deteriorate or damage the roof cover over time.

Equally important, PipeGuard pipe supports are available in the sizes and heights you need for your specific project. Six sizes accommodate pipes and conduit up to 5-inches in diameter, and at heights from 1.5- to 8.5-inches above the roof’s surface.

Contact your local roofing distributor or click PipeGuard for additional information.

OMG Fasteners for Metal Retro Applications

Rhino PurlinsOMG Fasteners are designed for attaching single-ply membrane systems to structural steel purlins (12-18 gauge) in standing seam metal roof retrofit applications.

The fastener has a 3/4-inch-long drill point that quickly cuts through the purlin before the threads engage in the metal roof. This design reduces point burnout and breakage and eliminates "jacking" between the purlin and standing seam metal.

OMG Retro Fasteners are compatible with the RhinoBond System, have OMG CR-10 corrosion resistant coating and are available in lengths from 3.75- to 10-inches.

Contact your local roofing distributor or click Retro Fastener for additional information.

Whirlpool
A Change of Heart
for the Whirlpool Distribution Center

Wayne’s Roofing, Inc., of Sumner, Wash., a Firestone Master Contractor, was selected to install nearly 900,000 square feet of Firestone UltraPy™ TPO on the new Whirlpool Distribution Center in Frederickson, Washington.

Historically Wayne’s Roofing used pre-assembled fasteners and plates for mechanically attached applications. So when the local field representative from OMG Roofing Products suggested that Wayne’s Roofing consider using the AccuTrac stand-up installation system for the Whirlpool project, the initial answer was simply, ‘no thanks.'

However, after evaluating the AccuTrac system, reviewing productivity data and understanding the health benefits of ergonomically designed stand-up tools, Wayne’s Roofing decided to give AccuTrac a try. See how it worked out.
